Individual Therapy

What are the first steps?

  • Email info@georgemccranorcounselling.co.uk with a line or two about what you want help with.
  • We’ll arrange a brief call, choose in person or online, and book your first session.

What happens in the first session?

  • We clarify what brings you, what you’d like to change, and how we will work.
  • You set the pace. You can decide after the session whether to continue.

How often will sessions be?

  • Most people start weekly to build momentum.
  • We can move to fortnightly or a paced plan once things steady.

How long will therapy take?

  • It varies. Short‑term work can focus on one goal. Longer work explores patterns and keeps changes steady.
  • We review progress every few sessions and adjust together.

What can we work on?

  • Anxiety, low mood, grief, addiction, stress, relationship patterns, confidence, boundaries and more.
  • If I’m not the right person for a specific issue, I will suggest other options.

Where do sessions take place?

  • In person: Coventry, Leamington Spa, Stratford‑upon‑Avon.
  • Online: available across the UK. You can switch between in person and online if needed.

How much does it cost and how do I pay?

  • From £60 per session.
  • Payment is due on the day by bank transfer or card. Receipts available.

Do you work with insurance?

  • I currently work with self‑funded clients. If you plan to claim through your insurer, check your policy. I can provide receipts for reimbursement where allowed, but I do not bill insurers directly.

Is it confidential?

  • Yes. What you share stays private except in rare circumstances such as serious risk of harm or where the law requires disclosure. I will explain this at the start.

How do I get started?

Couples Therapy

Is couples therapy right for us?

  • It can help with repeated arguments, breakdowns in communication, trust and intimacy issues, life transitions, or feeling stuck.
  • You do not need to be in crisis to start. It works well for prevention too.

What happens in the first session?

  • We map what is happening for each of you, agree a shared aim, and set a simple plan for the next few weeks.

Will you take sides?

  • No. My job is to keep the space fair, structured and safe so both voices are heard. I focus on the pattern, not on who is “right”.

Do we always attend together?

  • Usually yes. There may be brief individual check‑ins if helpful, but the work is primarily as a couple.

How often will we meet and for how long overall?

  • Weekly is best at the start. Some couples then move to fortnightly.
  • Length varies. Many couples work in focused blocks and review every 6–8 sessions.

What will sessions look like?

  • Clear structure, practical tools for listening and repair, and steps to try between sessions.
  • We keep conversations calm and specific so change carries into daily life.

Do you work with separation or rebuilding after an affair?

  • Yes. We can work toward reconnection, a respectful separation, or decision‑making support. We choose the focus together.

How much does it cost and how do we pay?

  • From £85 per session.
  • Payment is due on the day by bank transfer or card. Receipts available.
